Is there a way in Video Post (or somewhere else) to generate a double-image? In other words, one transparent image atop another, like halfway thru a dissolve, but held for a number of frames? Thanks.

Hi Glenn, << Is there a way in Video Post (or somewhere else) to generate a double-image? In other words, one transparent image atop another, like halfway thru a dissolve, but held for a number of frames? >> Yes. You can do this in Video Post. You would add 2 bitmap entries to the queue, specify how you wish to handle transparency through the Alpha Dialog Box and have the frames grid represent the correct number of frames that you'd like both images to hold. In order to get the affect of "halfway thru a dissolve", you may want to create a custom transparency mask, and use the RGB Mask/Alpha Mask to control the level of the dissolve. Please review 8-134 to 8-143 of the 3DS Ref. Man. jonas[adesk]

Okay, thanks. I'll get out the manual & take a look. I came up with a couple ways to do it (non-Video Post) but they were pretty roundabout ways of doing a fairly simple effect.

Glenn, An alternative to Jonas' suggestion would be to use a cross fade and just render the halfway point of the fade. Use two bitmaps entries. In the second one use Fade In for the transition. If you're set up for 30 frames just render frame 15 and you get image b composited at 50% over image a. For precise control you could set up 100 frames and be able to render by % point. Lots of ways… DM
