Glenn, An alternative to Jonas' suggestion would be to use a cross fade and just render the halfway point of the fade. Use two bitmaps entries. In the second one use Fade In for the transition. If you're set up for 30 frames just render frame 15 and you get image b composited at 50% over image a. For precise control you could set up 100 frames and be able to render by % point.
