Hello, I heard something about a new kind of processor named Glid 3D from .DLabs that speeds the hard work of renderings. Somebody knows something about that? Thanks in advance. 🙂

<<a new kind of processor named…>> I know a little bit. The Glint processor from 3D Labs is just starting to appear on some OEM boards. Omnicomp say that they are shipping their board in about a couple of weeks. This is the first one that I have seen advertised that uses this processor. On paper at least the GLint processor looks very fast. At the moment though the software drivers are still relatively under-developed. The Omnicomp board ships with a 3D driver for Open GL running under Windows NT. Rendermorphics (who produce the Reality Lab 3D graphics API) are also close to developing a DOS based driver for the chip. I think that's it so far. As far as I am aware, I don't know of any plans to develop a driver for 3D Studio to run on the board. If somebody out there does know of any such plans, I would love to know too!
