#SLICING

Does anyone know of a program that can take a 3D object in .3DS, .DXF, or .ASC
format and produce 2D cross-sections of it at various planes. I read that the
skin IPAS will slice models into planes, and while this could be a difficult
way to do what I want I'm not going to pay $300 for it. I could write it myself
but was hoping someone has already written a similar program. I need the
ability to set increment amounts and then to step through slices with arrow
keys or the mouse and display the slice outlines fullscreen. Ever heard of a
program like this?

There's a fantastic IPAS routine that will let you do this called scalpel. I
think there's a demo of it up in the DL's here, and I'm sure that one of the
other members (Bill?) can point you towards the creator.

He's Edwin Braun @ CIS 100114,2730, but I haven't heard from him in months, so
I can't say anything further…..other than it *was* a good foundation for a
very useful routine. Sorry.
