#Earthquake data??

Hi,
Does anyone know of somewhere to get the data on the place, date and strength
of major (above 4) earthquakes in the last 10 years or so? I am doing a project
and I would like to test a hypothesis. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

The US Geological Survey might have what you want. They should have an office
in the nearest major city.

Welcome to the forum/section!
You might try the ask-a-geologist E-mail service the USGS announced a few
months back; it is described in INTERN.TXT in this forum's library.
I do not know if it will have what you are after, but 800-358-2663 is a number
I picked up from earlier forum messages for USGS seismology and geomagnetic
data. Use 1200 bps and N-8-1 (no parity, 8 bits, 1 stop bit) modem settings.
For 9600 bps (baud) use phone 1-703-648-4168. I have not tried this myself.
If these fail and no one here comes up with a better answer, you might try
asking in the sci.geo.earthquakes newsgroup; accessing newsgroups from CIS is
described in SCIGEO.TXT in this forum's library.
