I did forget, can you give me the info for subscribing to "The Amigan,
Apprentice and Journeyman"? Thanks, Marlene
The Amigans PO Box 411 Hatteras, North Carolina 27943 $25.00 per year for 6
issues of 'The Amigan' (printed bi-monthly) A photocopied 70 to 80 page
newsletter with a TREMENDOUS amount of useful, informative, and interesting
information. The best publication I've seen yet for medium-level to advanced
users — even beats Amazing Computing (sorry, John Foust…). Highly
recommended! –apl
Don't worry, Andy. I think the Amigans are doing a great job. They have a
non-magazine perspective that lets them include a lot of little tips, which
have proved very interesting to me, too. I have talked with Dick Barnes and
John Toebes – met John at COMDEX – and they are really dedicated to the Amiga.
Toebes is a hard-core hacker. I hope somebody pays him to write more things
for the Amiga. Amazing Computing runs longer, more tutorial-oriented articles,
and the Amigan hasn't been doing that yet, even though they could. Don't
forget, I'm just a freelance who's dedicated to Amazing Computing because they
gave me a regular column, and have been supporting the AMICUS Network much more
than I could have. Of course, it's a good magazine. I have written for Amiga
World, too.
True — The Amigan is jam-packed with practical 'user' info, AC has a lot of
that plus ads, more newer-user-oriented info, etc. I'm glad I get both…
P.S. Do you have any info on the Allegra RAM expansion from Access
Associates? Sounds like a great deal — basic 512K expansion now available at
special 'introductory' price of $299.00 with 512K installed. Can be updated
to 2Meg by replacing chips with 1Meg's (i.e. when widely available and
affordable), and it supposedly is VERY small — extends less than 1" from
right side of Amiga case. It got some good press already on BIX, and I may
spring for one. Know anything about it ? My only reservation is possible
noncompatibility with future hardware such as Sidecar and H-disks… –apl
