#KS 1.2 Beta 4!!!

I have a few more problems I've found in all versions of the Amiga system
software. Has anyone else seen these?
* INTUITICKS can stack up at the IDCMP. Under certain situations I can get
many (10+) INTUITICKS messages pending at my IDCMP. This causes me problems
because I set the IDCMP when the mouse moves outside my window with the left
button down, and I am waiting for the mouse button to be released. The
button can be released, but because of the extra INTUITICKS messages, the
mouse button state change doesn't reach me until I have processed all these
other stacked up messages. I have reported this to Jim MacKraz at CA and
have supplied him with demo code. So far no reply.
* String proportional gadgets do not use the default font of the window. I
open the topaz80 font and use it throughout my window successfully. My
screen is the workbench screen. If I change the preferences to 60 columns
then use my program, the String gadgets are all rendered in 60 (not 80)
columns. Must I assign the screen a font as well? This behaviour goes
against what the Intuition manual (page 5-17) says.
* I'm having problems with the mouse sprite form linking to the data of
previously displayed forms using the SetPointer() function. All my data has
the required 4 byte null padding before and after the form data (as alluded
to in the RKM). Even if a ClearPointer() is done between the SetPointer()
calls, I still have the problem.
Possible clues:
– this only happens to some of my sprite forms
– seems to be worst in the upper left corner of my window
(regardless of where it is on the display)
– happens mostly when the shift key is pressed. (All of the clues may be red
herrings! Other important point is that I am using a Gimme00 window).
If you want a font other than the one selected by Preferences, in IntuiText
structs, you have to supply a TextAttr field in the structure rather than
leaving it NULL. I don't comprende the problem with SetPointer – could you
rephrase it?
* My version of the overlay loader using the IBM cross development system
seems to be busted. I removed the overlays from all the startup modules and
only left them in for Requesters that can be invoked from the menu. As soon
as I start my program (from the CLI), I get a system Requester telling me
that some catastrophic error has occured and the machine is going to lay down
for a while! I think the error is in the mystery module OVS-020.
