OK so I created this black and white image map… My intent was to get that tile effect on the ships hull… I created a straight black and white image map… brought it into Decal (After loading the SEGs colors) as a Specular map using 15%…Sized and pasted it on… When it Quick renders, I get none of the underlying colors of the SEG… Just the model that looks like my Specular map was draped over it… I can see the underlying colors on the edges where my map didn't quite reach all the way… Now… Let me say this… I tried varying the percentages… Varying the Map's colors to be greys and whites and also greys on greys… I tried Bump map… Ambience map… But all I get in quick render is the Model with this Map table clothe on it… BTW, I also cleared the Maps between each new paste on… HELP! Please…. I'm dyin over heere…! Christopher "I can never get these dang Image maps to fold back properly…"

Christopher, When you use the term "Quick Render" I assume that you mean the shading done in the DECAL module. If that is the case, it has been my experience that what you see in DECAL is not always what appears in an actual rendeing. I usually do a 320 x 200 render with no Photo or Antitalias and only one light. This gives me a good view of how my maps are working. I'm currently working on a short animation that employs some creative use of DECAL, SCULPTURE and DIRECTION. I have found a way to create an effect that I mentioned some time ago in a wish list that I would like to see. I did a very simple test animation, and it came it perfect. When its finished, it will be uploaded to the Hash support area on America Online. I'll let you know when its available. Michael S. Flynn

Hey Mike… Thanks for the reply… I will have to try that… And yes, when I say "Quick Render" I meant the render function in the Decal module… Steve… Is this going to be fixed in 3.0… Or is this supposed to be what it does…<G> Thanks, Christopher
