Well, here I sit, still typing on my trusty A1000 while my newly purchased
A2000 sits forlorn without a monitor. Strange, but my Atari monitor not
only shows no picture, but when plugged in seems to prevent the WB disk
from booting. My other monitor, a 1902 is part way through a conversion to
analog RGB. I can get a picture on it, but no colour. Hope I didn't clobber
something when I tried the Atari monitor.
The other interesting thing is that I can put an external drive on the
2000, and call it as DF2:, but can'r seem to get an internal 3.5" working.
I took one of my external drives apart and mounted it in the slot provided.
With the second drive connected, but with no dosk in it, There is no
attempt to boot from drive 0. With a disk in the second drive, an attempt
is made to boot, but it is unsuccessful.
I'll be digging into both these problems tonight and trying to resolve
them. Will keep you posted.

The loud fan is only used on the European version. I thought it was to be
a conspiracy to increase international tension but actually it is only
because the US versions fan is FCC approved. With all the EMI filtering
there is no longer enough HP to turn the blades <grin>. 73s, bill

I have a message captured from Usenet that explains how to add a second
internal drive and also how to add an extra 512k to the 1Meg board of the
2000 (what those jumpers really mean). I uploaded for you in the hardware
library so you can get it. I don't think is cleaned up enough to be posted,
so after you read it and try out various things you may want to post a file
for add-ons to the 2000. The file is called A2000add.txt!! Best regards,

Thanks a bunch Bill! I have the drives working fine, and this morning I
tried to add some memory. I got the jumpers correct (I think), but the ASDG
RRD was failing. Found 1 bad memory chip, and now it works longer. Still
have an intermittent problem though. It looks like one of the CAS signals
has a timing problem. I'll take a look into that file you uploaded.
