Commodore announced sales and earnings today, 1.20 per share vs 69 cents
last year, on a sales increase of 24 percent. This is an exceedingly good
number, and the stock promply shot up, closing at 16 7/8 on 1.125 million
share, one of the best movers of the day on the NY stock exchange. THINGS
ARE HUMMING. Read about it in the papers tomorrow…
Good news indeed! Did they give any sales figures for the Amigas? Or total
profit?

sales were up 24 percent, to 349 million. Net income was up 74% to 38.2
million. The only breakdowns available: Increase in sales in Amiga, pc, and
64/128 business. Europe 70% of sales. Several european markets and asia was up
50%. Sales increased moderately in north america. No other breakdowns
available.
Commodore announced today that Medhi Ali would assume the role of President of
commodore international. He was a managing director at dillon reade, working
with commodore for 3 years, and recently was elected to the board of directors.
Irving Gould will continue on as chairman of the board. Also, Harald Speyer,
head of european operations will be leaving commodore. The parting is said to
have been amicable, and he will be going into business for himself. He will
remain as a consultant to commodore for the next year.
