#TDI vs Benchmark

Larry – Wouldn't it have been nice though to have one Modula-2 system for the
Amiga have the quality/price/performance that we all deserve. TDI's and Avante
Garde's problems have been well chronicled. We're all too often put in the
position of having to deal with what's available rather than being able to
chose from a number of high quality products. This goes across the whole range
of Amiga products, not just Modula-2 systems. It seems that just too many
vendors (not all, of course) dump something on us presumming that since little
is available we'll buy anything we can get. I sorta feel that TDI has taken the
position that since the Amiga is such a small-market computer that they don't
have to held accountable. The Amiga simply won't make or break their fortunes.

I guess we see these things a little differently.
There are products for the Amiga that compete wquite well. C compilers are
the best example. We have two quite high quality ones. Assemblers are the same.
Many more examples can be found in the tool category… shells, disassemblers,
debuggers, etc.
I think that we do have a good product at a *Bsonable price in te M2 arena,
and perhaps even 2 of them (I haven't seen M2Amiga yet, so I can't comment on
how good/bad it is). To my mind, TDI has pushed shoddy goods on us, exactly as
you have noted, probably because they think we'll put up with anything just to
get a particular type of product.
