Here's one I haven't been able to figure out after repeated experiments and readings of the manual: How does one manipulate a material relative to an object's axis? For instance, the standard OAK.MAT is defined as a cylindrical material with the Y axis as its primary axis. When assigned to a segment in Character, the grain of the wood runs "up and down" when the segment is in its default orientation. How can I have a wood grain that runs along the X axis, for instance, without changing the orientation of the segments themselves? TIA Chris Rudolphi

Chris, From my experience, you can't. It is one of the requests I made in a list of features that that I sent to Hash; rotating in the materials editor. Hopefully it can be done. Michael S. Flynn

Chris, If you're looking to have a stationary material, just in a different direction, there are two things you can do. One is change the orientation of your segments (not the best way). The other is to edit the material – for the OAK.MAT, simply exchange the values of X with Y, then save the new material (perhaps as OAK_X). -Kevin
