#Animation Master HW ?
5 messages in this thread
I've got a couple of questions about Animation Master for Windows.
1. Does the Pentium bug that everyone is talking about have any effect on
Animation Master for modelling or rendering? I'm trying to decide between a
Pentium or a 100 MHz 486.
2. What is the recommended configuration for rendering PCs in order to use the
DOS render program? Are additional licenses required for each DOS rendering
machine?
I'm almost ready to upgrade from Playmation (Amiga) to Animation Master and I'm
trying to decide whether to go PC or PPC Mac. I was leaning toward the PPC,
but it looks like I could get a new PC and put a 486 motherboard in my AT
(original IBM 286) for the same money.
Thanks in advance for your help.
We have verified that the precision math bug is present in EVERY one of the
pentiums we run….. It makes no difference at all….
Also the 100 MHZ Pentium will not have the bug because it is cast from a
different die….
We reccommend 32 mb ram, 1 gig HD, 4 MB video card (preferably ATI) of course
these things aren't required…. the dos renderer is not copy protected… you
can copy it to as many machines as you like.

I believe that the Pentium problem only encompassed the Pentium 60's and
66's… If you are looking for a Pentium 90 or 100 I don't think it will affect
you at all…
But don't quote my on that, I'm wary of all Big Business…<G>

Just a clarification, The precision math bug is in all the Pentium 90s
manufactured thru the end of November….

Thanks for clearing that up…!
Apparently there is a software fix now… for $10.00… See the "What's New –
this Week" when logging on… You will find it there…
