EriK, Hey, guess what! Hash Inc. is working hard on utilizing the new hardware rendering accelerators…. specifically all of our applications will be OpenGL compliant with our next release… Yes, we will offer a free upgrade to people who purchase or upgrade to the current version within 30 days of the release of the new version… your cost to upgrade now would be $200.00… Steve, Hash Inc.

Steve, Thats great!! Do you have any kind of preliminary benchmarks on the OpenGL accelerators? Not necessarily hard numbers but more or less predicted performance in renderings? 4x, 10x, 100x ??? From speaking with some of your people at COMDEX Hash is slated to release the new version in Jan-Feb. If I purchase the upgrade in the beginning of Jan. and the product experiences some delays say until March or so, will I still be protected for the upgrade? One more question. . I purchased my original software from Anjon, which is no longer around. Are there any other vendors in the LA area? Thanks EMK

No news yet on how the OpenGL accelerators will improve the performance of our software… they are more geared for polygonal rendering forms so at this time the only thing that will really be improved will be the new gouraud shading option for preview rendering (oops! that's still a secret) darned near real time preview rendering! The new release won't be out until about the first of March or later… we won't be offering free upgrades until about the first of February… Steve, Hash Inc.

Steve, If AM will not be able to take advantage of OpenGL rendering (except in sculpture previews), won't that provide a strong advantage for other vendors who support OpenGL rendering in their animation packages. Does Hash have any tricks up their sleeves that will allow them to compete with 3d-software that renders at speeds comparable to an Indy? (According to Evans and Sutherland who are developing an OpenGL accelerator) Thanks EMK
