#Problems with glass
5 messages in this thread
I have already gotten the first upgrade to Animation Master to fix the problems
with rendering glass-like objects. Now I seem to have another problem. I
recently uploaded a files called FLOWRS.GIF. The vase is pure white with a high
transparency, a refraction of 15, and a mirror of 10. The problem is that
objects behind the "glass" do not show there colors through the "glass" (ie.
the flower stems should be green).
I'm currently rendering another "glass" object with very similar
settings, and I'm having the same problems.
Any answers or an upgrade that I've missed?

I would suggest tracking down issue 16 of 3D Artist Magazine…. it deals
heavily with glass in our program…. basically its a matter of getting your
transparency and refraction values right, also, make sure the glass has
thickness (ie:double walled)

Steve,
The glass is double walled. I did try a single wall using the glass.mat, but
had similar problems. Could you be give me a example of correct transparency
and refraction values. Thanks.

PS- I know it can be done now that I've seen the martini glasses. Great pic!
