#Wrong Colors on Mach32
15 messages in this thread
Imagine L/T is displaying blue for red and vice versa on my ATI Graphics Wonder
card using 600 x 480 x 24bit. I have been referred to you be ATI since the
registers must be set via the BIOS. Is there any thing I can do to correct the
problem via a parameter setting, etc.? Would a software fix to the problem be
required from Impulse? If this cannot be corrected by Impulse, I would like to
return the software; I have had it less than 30 days.
Thanx,
Danny Maynard

Of course you can return the software, and as such we are sorry that
the people at ATI have decided once again to offere a product that does not
follow the vesa standards, while the card may work fine in Windows, this is
because it has a set of drivers to do so, it is obviously not meant to work
with DOS programs like Imagine or 3D studio or Strata Pro or other high end
programs such as these.
We have asked ATI why they have made a product with these problems, and
the response was less than informative. We do not represent a threat to ATI
and I doubt that they will admit any lack of compliance, so do send Imagine
back, however, please be alerted to the fact that if you have future problems
it was not and is not Imagine but a hardware product that does not follow
standards as set by the VESA community.
Also, due to the numerous sets of boards out there, we just cant keep
up with each new board and how it works, we would love to but it is very hard
for us to do so, if we Microsoft I suppose we could force some form of
universal continutiy among the various hardware vendors out there. This has
been the scourge of smaller vendors from the very beginning of the entire
hardware and software mess,
We are moving our product to windows where supposedly this will no
longer be an issue, as an onwer of Imagine in any form, you will be offered an
opportunity to upgrade for a very low fee. However the wait for the program
will be a few months from now.
Sorry for the problems, and by the way, Have a happy and safe new
years.
Mike
Mike,
will it be an NT or at least a Win32s version?
-David
Dave
Win 32, and there will be a NT version as well, but that is out in the
future there are other things in store that I think you will like even more.
But that my friend is another story that I am not willing to get into right
now,,,,, Soon I promise
Mike
Win32s is cool, no problem with that. BTW is the L/T CD done?
-David

How about an OS2 version? I'm tired of all the MS BS that has been floating
around for far too long.
Sam
Sam
No more BS but we are doing a Windows version not OS2, sorry but that
is where the greatest mass is and as much as I hate to admit it, this is about
business, not just preferences, we are real happy with any of this PC stuff,
but such is life
Mike

That's ok. I just remembered that I can run windows programs under OS2.
Sam
Sam
I might also add that the software will be in Win32S and it will use
WIN-G code, so I dont know if it will work properly under OS2, I will check
into for you but I make no promises.
Mike

Thanks, I don't know what win-G mode is, but it would be nice if it works
under OS/2. You guys are determining my next Os by what Imagine will run under.
Sam
Sam,
as long as it is not a *real* NT version you can run it under OS/2 because
OS/2 uses the original Windows on your system. So if it will run with Windows
it will also run under WinOS/2.
-David
David,
A program that runs under WIN32S is not a plain Windows program and requires a
special set of extensions to Windows to be present. Thus you cannot run it
under Windows without the extensions.
I have heard that OS/2 does not yet support the latest version of WIN32S
(Photoshop 3.0?). So, if they don't and until they do, you may not be able to
run a WIN32S program under OS/2.
-Marco
WIN-G is the new WIN32S game porting for 32 bit Windows…Game running in
Windows use it…The new Kings quest 7 uses it. Sierra produced it.

Danny,
I'm having the same problem on my ATI board. However, you can always use
external
viewers to display your images. I do not think you should return the software
for that
reason. Imagine works fine and you should complain to ATI.
If you like graphics and animation as much as I do, you'll enjoy Imagine.
Also, another trick you can use is to display your images without the True
color switch
On in the project screen. It will be dispayed in 256 colors but with the normal
red and blue values.
