#Apologies, fresh start??
8 messages in this thread
I would just like to take a moment to express my sincere apologies to anyone
(Mr. Tabone and others) for any remarks made that were found offensive or rude.
As always, my intention is not to upset anyone. I tend to have a very dry (and
I am sorry to say, mid-western U.S) sense of humor that tends to be taken
wrong. While I will not take 100% of the blame for the ill feelings that have
arose in the past few weeks, I will take half. What I would like to avoid all
around is any one person being singled out and having their name thrown in
every message just to make a point. While I may have said that someone "was
not worth my time", that was the result of being told "I truly hope you go
bankrupt" by that person to which I felt was extremely uncalled for.
This will be my last posting here as it is apparent that I can not make any
substantial contribution to this forum as long as "platform wars" and
geographic boundaries continue to stand in the way.
I hope that everyone here has a prosperous new year and that each of you will
benifit from this forum.

Sorry Dean, can't have half – only a quarter, Max. I was very much at fault
for making fun of Alberto the way I did. It was not my intention. Having
originally come from the mid-west, not 200 miles from where you are now, I had
the same sense of humor and appreciated your wit. I told you about it on-line,
without remembering there was a warm body attached to it that I was offending.
It was a rude thing to do, I regret it, and apologize to everyone here and
especially Alberto for doing it. While this may have started with your reply
to Alberto, I suspect it might not have flamed as high with my shaking gas on
the fire – we'll never know.
I do stick by all my comments made after observing your initial comment,
however, and really feel that Alberto did say some pretty nasty things here,
way out of proportion to the things that were said to him. Wishing that
someone would go bankrupt because they disagree on some points is a extremely
uncivil thing to say in a place that DEPENDS on civility. I also don't believe
that your "may you rest in peace" was a veiled death threat as Alberto
suggested. I took it to mean "you (Alberto) should give this subject a rest and
just go away."
In any event, I think one thing that we all can agree on is that when a
discussion descends to the level that this one did, it is in the best interest
of EVERYONE that it be taken to private e-Mail. People pay out their
hard-earned money to be a part of these forums, and most don't like to waste it
on this type of thing.
Again, apologies to all.

David,
I have seen some flame wars in my on-line life and to be honest this thing
seems to me to be a lighted match on the sun in comparison. I think that most
of the fault lies with the sysops including myself, where we should have
realized that some people where upset with the fact that this discussion was
going on in such an uncontrolled manner.
We, the sysops are going to redouble our efforts to make sure that messages end
up in the section that suits them best to help maximize the signal to noise
ratio of this forum.
It is my sincere hope that Alberto, Virtual Real, Michael Towe, yourself, etc.,
do not leave this forum in a huff because of something I have failed to do as
well as I should, and be advised, all of you that I will try and do better in
the future.

John,
I for one am not leaving "in a huff" 🙂 Just going to lurk for a while and try
to behave. I too have seen my share of flame wars and for the most part I
usually find them senseless and trivial. As stated originally, I do wish to
apologize to all for any and all "mud slinging".

Thanks Dean… I feel that you and most if not all of the participants in the
"heated" discussions have contributed largely in other areas and am very happy
to have you here. Sorry for not getting your name (or your company) correct in
my previous message. I am going to use normal on-line procedures from now on,
not these offline readers that I can hardly understand, and it will take me a
bit to figure out the interface to where I can get the information that I need,
when I need it.

On the contrary, as a member who finds time to visit this forum only
occasionally, I found your "discourse" of the past few weeks to be most
entertaining!! Thank you very much David, Dean, Michael and Alberto – quite
humorous actually!
That stuff hasn't scrolled yet? Aye Carumba!
