My jumping into the fray was not for the purpose of debating platforms or O/S's, but was to comment on the apparent attitudes with which you have accosted almost everyone in the discussion. I wasn't replying to agree/dispute with your "points" or arguments, to catch them or to miss them. Rather, I was commenting on your seemingly enormously condescending and beligerent attitude. As I reflect on the genesis of this discussion, however, it occurs to me that this may all be just one big international misunderstanding. Dean Oliver commented to the affect that he has trouble detecting tone in the written word here online, as do most of us occassionally. Taking into consideration the fact that two completely different cultures are involved, as well as an individual (you, Alberto) whose native language is not English (by the way, it is commendable that you have mastered to such a degree a second language, I have enough trouble with the ONE I know<g>), I propose that initially we all misinterpreted the tone of your messages, as I think you did with our following replies for the same reasons: >>actually I felt I was insulted by someone with words like "Mac bubble", "not worth my time", "Surf's up dude" and "May you rest in peace"<< I have not only conversed with Dean here on-line, but have benefited from reading many other messages and replies penned by him (as well as articles), and I think I have a small degree of insight into his personality on-line (please correct me if I'm wrong, Mr. Oliver), and these were not meant to be insulting, but were intended to be light-hearted and well meaning sarcasm, or being coy, were good-natured and fun conversation. I do think you were starting to "get to him" by the time he said "May you rest in peace", but by that time you were getting a little mean too, I think. In the end, there are many very good tools out there, Mac and PC, (and SGI, Amiga, etc. etc.), and I think all of us should be more worried about the quality of the end product and the satisfaction of the client, than what tools we used to get there. This whole forum's purpose is to enable each of us to learn from all the others, regardless of platform or software, because good design and production concepts will work on just about any system. If everyone in the world worked on Macs, or PC's, exclusively, we wouldn't have any of the great advances put forth by the other. The wonderful thing about having parallel development of similar tools across multiple platforms is that eventually, they all incorporate the best features and capabilities of the others. Anyway, its getting late, my wife is grimacing, my typing fingers are aching, I'm starting to ramble, so I need to go. Like a wise philosopher<g> once said "Can't we all just get along?". In all seriousness, I think a few honest-hearted apologies on all sides would go a long way towards ending this thread on a good note (and possibly averting a few mail bombings in the process <bg>).
