#"ramlib" error???

To any and all who have a clue… I am just recently coming up with a strange
problem while trying to run certain programs. On both AutoPilot and
PageStream2, which have been fine for months, I'm now getting a Recoverable
Alert Error 0003 8007, and then a requester saying: ramlib
Program failed (error #80000008) with an option to
suspend or reboot. I tried to re-install AutoPilot, but I got the same results.
Next, I tried to isolate the problem by clearing my WBStartup drawer and also
removing the User-startup file. The same problem occurred. No one I've spoken
with knows what "ramlib" means or where it comes from. One other piece of the
puzzle: last week my machine was Parnet-ed to a system of Amigas at a local
animation house. They had experienced the "ramlib" error while running the
standalone LightWave. Could this be a virus? I know nothing of these things.
I think it unlikely as I only get software commercially or off CompuServe. I
hope this is the right area to reach out for help. If not, would someone

this error will occur if some library ore device (the system libraries and
devices are located in the libs: and devs: drawers) the application wants
to use is corrupted.
Re-Install all system libraries and devices from your original workbench
disks.
The reason why one of these files has got corrupted _may_ be some sort of
link-virus. But in most cases, it's simply a read error due to some faulty
floppy or hard disk media.

ramlib is a special task in later versions of AmigaDOS that is responsible
for loading shared libraries. If you're getting a crash in ramlib, you
probably have trashed memory somehow/somewhere. Are you running Enforcer?

thanks for your info. As you may have read, I was able to solve my
immediate problem by reinstalling my sys:libs. The corrupted files were
the iffparse.library, diskfont.library, and asl.library.
I do seem to have a program called Enforcer. It was in my Tools drawer,
without an .info icon, and is 6.4k. Is this what you were referring to?
What does it do? I suspect it's a commodity and should be in that drawer
with an icon.

They man not have been corrupt, they may have been for a different version of
kickstart. This also happens if you try to use a WB3 disk on a kickstart 2.04.
I had a board that allowed me to hardload a ROM image on my A500, but after
going to 2mb of chip it wouldn't fit in the machine. So I had to go back to
WB2.04 after going back to KS2. In case anyone is worried about the legal
implications, I now have KS3.1
