I've got AmigaUNIX v2.1 and am having trouble installing it in my 2000.
If anyone has some suggestions, i would really appreciate it…
My system is A2000 v4.4motherboard. I have an '030 GVP w/SCSI and a
325MB Quantum drive attached to a 2091 controller (for the UNIX install).
the problem i'm having is that the system locks up during the UNIX install
script while it is trying to read the partitions…i get the following
msg:
a2091: 0x48 1 0x2EAB8C
and the system hangs…
Does anyone know what that means? The 2091 has a v6.6 ROM; there is no
RAM onboard, and the RAM jumper is set at 0K.

You left out an important piece of info … what tape drive are you using? If a
Viper you need to run the kludge (it's one of the boot floppies). If that's
not it, look at your 2091. If it has to Western Digital "Proto" SCSI chip on
it, you need to upgrade it — about $20.
You can't use the GVP controller at all. If the HD you are installing to or
booting from is on the GVP, forget it. As well, on a C= accelerator, you may
need a ROM update to work with Unix. I asked GVP about their accelerators with
Unix a while back, and they said that it was only possible with certain older
models and not recommended.
I'm not sure about the exact message you got re: the A2091. I had a problem
like that when I installed, and I no longer remember the solution (maybe I did
something funky with termination or something…). Oh, I KNOW. I upgraded
the WD controller chip on the A2091 from a rev -04 to a rev -08 and that fixed
the problem.
