Okay, help me out. If I put together a nice smooth camera move, say from a high position moving to a close-up, and add a full ease at the end, everything's fine. A nice linear move. NOW, if I add a keyframe somewhere along that linear path, say to pull the path into an arc, suddenly my spacing along that line changes! What can I do about this? I have figured out a fix (using a camera parented to a dummy), but is there a different solution? Thanks.

Save your file, then try the smooth option in the keyframe dialog box for your camera tracks. This will evenly space the keys (with no undo). Push OK, then see if your middle camera keyframe position is where you want it. You might have to tweak some. When happy, choose key info for your last camera key, and set your TCB to the values you want. Hope this helps. Paul S,

Well, you see the problem is I DON'T want evenly spaced camera positions, since I have an ease in on the final position. What I don't understand is why the spacing changes when a key frame is added. I might add that this doesn't seem to happen if no ease-ins or outs are used. Thanks.

You are trying to control the acceleration/deacceleration of an object through keyframes. There is an IPAS tool to help you do this. Jonas, PMJI, but while you're on the subject of Tempo – I've got one for ya. The other day I was using the constant velocity function between two keys which worked fine. But, it changed some of my other keys continuity values that were not included in the range of frames I gave tempo. ANy ideas? It was simple to fix but weird anyways. DM

Hi David, << The other day I was using the constant velocity function between two keys which worked fine. If you can provide me with one, I'd like to see it. jonas[adesk]

Okay, I'll check the Tempo demo out. But I'm surprised to hear that it takes an ipas routine to fix something like this. Thanks.

If you have release 4, have you looked at the pathman.k3d script that comes with 3ds? It will do path smoothing, acceleration, and deceleration.
