I'd like to make it clear, that all customers of ALL Video International IPASes (current and future) will be able to get low priced upgrades to NT version (whatever our effort it will take).

Hi, Bill! >> GREAT policy!!! >> Hope everybody will follow. You HOPES are coming true: Greg Pyros announced even "ehnanced policy" for all his IPASes!!! All such claims would be more detailed (with approximate dates and prices) if we, Developers, had more information about "3DS open architecture" implementation (what IPAS development tools we will be provided with). On the other hand all these claims are not Empty Sounds either: we BELIEVE, that 3DS NT will still support plug-in architecture, it HAS TO HAVE open architecture in order to compete with MicroSoft SoftImage NT (due simulteniously with 3DS NT), which does support plug-ins. As for Video International, we suspected something like that (NT version) to happen, so we write our IPASes using only documented function calls (good practice for everyone) and now our code, becides user interface and memory management is quite portable – we can (perhaps) MATCH Pyros' claim about SGI version of our IPASes, at least for the new ones we will keep this opportunity in mind. Wait for more information and more exiting news on SIGGRAPH. Regards, Alex, Video International

Well, all customers of Pyros Pictures will not only be able to get NT versions, they will also get SGI renderer versions at reasonable prices! <bg> Greg (see your bid and raise you one!) Pyros

***Greg (see your bid and raise you one!) Pyros*** Oh, I like this! <vbg> bill

Greg: I will see that bid, grin, and caress my IPAS library, telling all of them that they are moving toward the 21st century at reasonable upgrade prices! Hey, looks like the PAR/TBCIV software will have to deal with the NT Thing as well. Jeffrey (old dog learning new tricks) Lerer

Hi, Greg! >> Well, all customers of Pyros Pictures will not only be able to get NT versions, This is GREAT! (I hope you meant ALL your IPASes) >> they will also get SGI renderer versions at reasonable prices! <bg> Can't beat this one (my <g> is not that <b>), but will try to match. First, I have to investigate how much work it takes to produce SGI versions of plug-ins (we have few Indigos and C compiles, which comes with IRIX – if that is enough for IPAS porting, then we are OK and prices will be MORE then reasonable (I mean, LESS <g>)). It sounds like under NT IPASes will be capable of performing much more neat tricks (including useful work <g>), so I think time after SIGGRAPH is going to be VERY exiting. Looking forward… Good Luck, Reasonable Alex, Video International

Greg: <yes, it will be a great year!> Woof! Sniffing horiz for P6/NT/R5 and some form of GLINT or whatever equiv. FAST FAST FAST. I'll have to plan my life (i.e., shower, shave, meal, walk, exer., sleep, etc.) around something other than render runs. Greg, have you asked around about when P6 might hit the street? Jeffrey
