What Scanner?
15 messages in this thread
I have an old Genious GS-C105 hand scanner. This scanner has just reached the
end of his life and he refuses to work any more. I've just received some extra
"Escudos", so I can afford to buy a new scanner.
Some people tell me to buy a Table Scanner, and others to buy a handy scanner.
As I've just moved to this graphics world I'm not sure what type of scanner is
more suitable. Should I choose a Table or handy scanner? What should I consider
when buying a new scanner? Thanks,
Alvaro
Alvaro,
A few months ago I picked up the HP Scanjet IIcx. It is a single pass,
full page, full color scanner, and produces great output quickly. Great
investment and a $150 rebate until the end of this month <g>.
It also comes with a handy utility that makes it a copy machine, copying
directly to your (supported) printer with a typical copy machine interface
(darker, lighter, enlarge, reduce, etc).
Since I got it I don't know how I got along without it!

I just bought mine last month, a very good investment!!!!!!

Agreed! Have you used the copier feature?

Ralph,
That looks like the scanner I'm looking for. I've just phone my supplier and
instruct him to look for this particular scanner. I suspect I won't be able to
get that $150 rebate. I don't live in the States. 🙁
take care

Alvaro,
I don't think you will be disapointed with the scanner. Though I wouldn't
know about the rebate overseas… it would be worth asking. <g>
Ralph
Ralph,
I've just read an article about that scanner. The price around here goes up to
$1300. What's the price in the States?

Alvaro,
The forum frowns on putting prices up here. Check your E-Mail.

Wouldn't want to upset the forum Gods, Jonas! <bg>
Actually it's my pleasure to be here on this forum and to be able to
contribute some, as so many have freely done over the years.

Ralph,
Oops, I guess it's time for me to read again the rules. But in fact the price
in the States is excellent. The difference off price is quite enough to get an
air ticket and go there to buy it. What software does it bring?
Thanks,
Alvaro
Alvaro,
You get Photostyler II LE (Light Edition), a Windows copier interface and
Twain drivers for easy scanning inside PhotoShop/Photostyler.
Ralph
Ralph,
Thanks for your help.
