To anyone with the know how! I just purchased a Diamond Viper SE (PCI version) w/ 4meg VRAM for my newly purchased 3DSR4. The reason I chose this card was because I have a Sony 20" monitor and wanted a high refresh rate with maximum resolutions. Problem is, when I run 3DS VIBCFG the card is not recognized. (FYI) This card has a weitek 9100 chip. Are there any new drivers available to allow 3DS to use the full potential of this new card? Also, when I try to configure for VESA instead, 3DS VIBCFG will only allow me to configure for 640 x 480 w/ 16 colors. What's going on? If there is no hope for the Viper SE? If not, what card should I use? (ie. WHAT WORKS…) Please help ASAP, I have a new client and a fast approaching DEADline. Thanks!

Hi Derek, We are expecting a new set of drivers from Vibrant in the future. In the meantime.. << If not, what card should I use?.. >> Please download and review the following file.. File Info for VIBLST.ZIP Section: Autodesk 3D Studio Contributor: 70421,76 Size: 5702 Submitted: 10/26/94 Type: Binary Accesses: 252 Title: 3D Studio R4 Vibrant driver listing Keys: AUTODESK VIBRANT 3DS 3D STUDIO REL4 3DS4 GRAPHICS CARDS This file unzips to VIBLIST.TXT. It is a listing of the graphics cards, with all resolutions, supported by the shipping copy of 3D Studio Release 4. This is for version 1.0.5.P1 of the Vibrant drivers. jonas[adesk]

Is there any date set for the new driver release? I have the Viper Pro Video card and cannot access above 640x480x16 as well. Tom…

Hey Tom, I had the same problem w/Viper SE (PCI). My solution, in fact the only solution until the new driver arrives, was to get a new motherboard. I talked with the people from Diamond and Autodesk and no one had an answer, until I talked with Alan Inglesias in this forum. It seems that the Viper has a problem with the OPTI chipset. If your board has the INTEL chipset then it's probably something else. In any event, I now run at a beautiful (and FAST) 1028 X 1024. If you have any questions feel free to give me a buzz at 215-635-4839.

Derek, I've been using 3DS with the 4Mb Pro SE 9100 for months with no problems. What exactly do you mean by "the card is not recognized"? Do you not have a 9100 choice when you run 3DS VIBCFG? -Alan

Alan, I get an error that says that the chipset is not recognized or present. If you don't mind, I would really appreciate talking to you about your configuration. I've been having a hard time getting this thing to work and really need to get it operational or get a new card. Mabey the problem is with the PCI bus or the Adaptec 2940 SCSI card I'm using? Anyway, my number is 215-635-4839 (east coast). Feel free to call anytime.
