Finally….one thing that WinCim does better than AutoPilot!
I happened to log on tonite via WinCim and was VERY pleasantly surprised to see
that a full color Amiga Splash Board now decorates the entrance to our beloved
forum.
It's the original Amiga "backwards checkmarks" logo with the Amiga typeface
superimposed over the famous Boing Ball. Very nice!!
If you have access to WinCim, log into Amiga Users Forum with it at least one
time to see the artwork.
The artwork is by Jim Williams (Eet) … he deserves the kudos.
Is there any way to download and view the artwork for us folks without CIM?

Just a comment on WinCIM vs AutoPilot….
They are 2 very different types of programs. The CIM programs are meant to
keep you online for the longest amount of time. Even things like forum logos
… if you tell CIM to display logos it will automatically download files,
regardless of length, every time it encounters a logo in a forum (that is
hasn't already downloaded). If a forum changes a logo daily, you will download
the new one daily (assuming you visit that forum daily).
Programs like AutoPilot are meant to get you online then offline as quickly as
possible, allowing you the freedom to read messages, browse the libraries,
write messages, etc., without the ticking of the clock.
They are two very different types of programs for two very different purposes.

Boy, do I KNOW they're very different programs…..For me, AP is FAR superior
to this behemoth. It's like comparing a Formula 1 racer to a GM 10 ton truck.
I'm having some disk problems with the Amiga at the moment, or I never would
have resorted to this beast. BUT it WAS nice to see the artwork.
How 'bout porting AP over to the PC for those who must occasionally (or at
work) use one! (Everyone of AP's users should be forced to spend a 1 hour
session with WinCim….they'd never bitch again) 🙂

I helped a friend set up CSNav the other day, nasty little icons
everywhere more windows than you can shake a stick at and 20 mins to
figure out how to read stuff once you've gotten it…
Autopilot may not have "Wow! thats pretty!" appeal but boy is it
efficient.. 😉

Steve, I am quite new with AP… maybe I`m a little stupid… in my AP/Help
directory there are some "pretty" icons like a telephone, a letter etc… I
never see those when I use AP. What are they good for then?

They're used in the online documentation. Hit the "Help" key while you're in
AutoPilot, and you'll see how they're used.
I agree wholeheartedly. While my Amiga spent some time in hospital recently, I
used WinCim for about a month. Even with the so-called "Autopilot" feature
turned on, it was an excruciating experience. What, on the average, takes 2 to
3 minutes with AP, took 10 to 12 with WinCim.
This surprised me somewhat as there have been a number of comments made in
these fora (plural of forums?) about AP lacking WinCim features. Made me think
that we were missing out on something. Even a new forum logo isn't enough to
get me to use that dog of a program again.
Hope your Amiga disk problems are sorted out soon and you can return to the
fold.

I tried to help an elderly woman friend with DOSCIM. Wow, what a dog…bad
docs, lots of pretty pics but clumsy to use AND you can't see what's happening.
You could be hanging there forever without a clue.
The poor old lady really wants a program like AP. It's faster & easier to go
manual except for the fora (fancy latin <G>) & email. The only problem is
remembering the commands. 2 macros get me right to a CO with a name change plus
a few to remind people to behave.
