Bill – I don't know if you have seen the discussion in AmigaVendor with regard to the following command structure: Run <>NIL: … It has been suggested in a couple of third-party add-on programs or patches, and will not work on my system (using WShell 2) and on some other people's systems. I HAD thought we isolated it to the OS (works with 3.1, doesn't with 3.0), but it occurs to me that perhaps it is a peculiarity of the shell. Werner Kazmierzak commented: > well, this form of redirection is not mentionned in the official Amiga > documentations, you should use … Run <NIL: >NIL: … instead. > > But in 'The Amiga Guru Book', pg 298, Ralph Babel discribes the <> as > standard input _and_ output redirection (useful for CON; 2.0 and later > AmigaShells). He additionally notes, that, as the FileHandle of the > redirection file needs to be cloned with <>, the stream thus specified > must be interactive. Do you have any thoughts or advice on this? The work-around is trivial: Run <NIL: >NIL: … jsaklad@welchlink.welch.jhu.edu . . JimDoc, on AutoPilot
