Help!!!
I have an amiga 500 with an Trumpcard HD controller using a NEC CDR-84J
cd-rom drive. The problem i am having is that i have to shut my Supra Turbo 28
off when i mount CD0: or the whole system will lock up. I have tried calling
Supra for support but they put you on hold for hours and i can no longer afford
the bill. I even tried the patch included in the software with no luck, it
still locks up. If i run at slow speed everything works fine, except very slow.
Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, have you found a solution?
I would really appreciate any suggestions. I have a need for speed.

Can you boot the CD-ROM with the turbo mode off, THEN go into turbo mode? I
seem to recall that might work.

I have tried to boot up in slow mode and then mount cd0: and it work's fine,
then i switch on the supra turbo 28 and the whole machine locks up.
I have not been able to boot from cd0: only dh0:. I am running dos 2.1 if
that might have a bearing on the problem.

What's your hardware setup for the Supra Turbo 28 and the CD-ROM drive?
What model Amiga? Sorry if you mentioned that; I forgot. It might matter.
I wouldn't imagine you could under any circumstances boot from a CD-ROM
unless perhaps if you temporarily defeated dh0:, which might be
counterproductive. I have to do that on a CDTV I have for some CDTV discs
that don't like the hard drive I've installed.

I have an A500 with 2.5 megs on ram (1 meg agnus). The Supra Turbo 28 is
connected to the expansion slot on the left side of the computer, and my hard
drive controler right after that via the pass thru on the supra.
I am using Asim CDFS driver software for the cdrom. (Just in case that might
be important.)
I am having lockup problems every time i mount cd0: with the supra on fast
mode. If i leave it on slow mode it works just fine. But as soon as i try to
turn it on fast mode "POOF" down it goes.
I will de greatfull for any help that you may be able to give me.{:)

Try putting the Turbo 28 *after* the hard drive controller, if it has a
pass-through. That's the way I set up the systems of two friends, and Supra
recommended putting the hard drive first in line. As a test, pull the hard
drive and boot with a floppy and then see if the CD-ROM will work in turbo
mode. You could also try another CD-ROM driver. Options: The Commodore driver
that comes with Workbench 3.1, the Xetec driver, or the public domain driver
that's in the libraries here (I forget its name).
If no pass-through, Safe Harbor has a great deal on a Supra 500XP hard drive
and ram expansion for the A500 that works well with the Turbo 28.
P.S. There's no guarantee, of course, that switching to another hard driver
setup like the Supra 500XP will solve the CD-ROM problem, which is why I
recommend testing the Turbo with the CD-ROM after you've pulled the hard drive.
Some hard drives let you defeat the hard drive via a switch, and that may be
worth trying, too. Sure, you don't want to run without a hard drive, but this
may help you diagnose the problem's source.
Sorry i can't offer any help on your problem, apart from giving you Supra's ID
on here, so you can mail them with the problem. I've been in touch with them
this way, and have had a reply everytime, although, not the next day..
