What chip controls the workbench? My problem is any clicks on a workbench
screen freezes the whole system. Running applications from CLI is fine, but
some of them use workbench screens in the program, so back to square one. If I
knew which chip to replace, I'd fix it. 🙂
Try the 8520's Bill. They get blamed for everything, but they do cause a
lot of different symptoms. I once had a "Twilight Zone" failure where the
clock was stuck between the same 29 seconds. 🙂 I've also seen a bad 8520
cause the system to lock on the Workbench when you clicked on an icon.
There's 2 8520's in there, so I'd suggest swapping them & see if the
problem moves. It would probably move to the printer. -Jim
