Is there any trick involved in getting the old Amax working on a 2000? I recently moved my stuff off the 3000 I had to sell, and back to the 2000. The 2000 has a GVP 68030 with 4 megs and a couple of 16 bit RAM cards totaling 8 mB. When I start Amax, it brings up the smiley MAC then bombs out with a buss error. Thanks, Jim MOS via Autopilot & Amiga

No reason it shouldn't work. AMAX is sensitive to damaged RAM and other hardware problems that won't be noticed by the Amiga OS. Go into the AMAX prefs (do you have a later version? I think 2.56 was the most recent for AMAX II) and simplify the setup to help diagnose. e.g., turn off access to chip RAM and periperhals, then if that works build back up slowly. And what kind of Mac drive setup are you using?

Thanks for the advice. I got Amax running, although it still crashes on some of the programs. So, I guess I'll have to play with it some more. It's not so important now, since I only wanted it to run some MAC program to access the Internet via Compuserve. When this new dial-in PPP becomes available, I'll just use the Amiga. Jim You might want to try booting with the extensons turned off.. you do that by holding the Shift key down when the system is booting. (If I remember right you have system 7.0 on your system) Let me know if that helps Dave

Dave, I tried it, but it didn't seem to help. I guess I'll fool around with it some more. But as I said, I was only tring to get it running to fool with CIM to get out on the Internet. When CIS get's it dial-in PPP service going, I'll switch over to Amiga Mosaic. (Yes, I'm using MAC system 7.0) -Jim MOS via Autopilot & Amiga
