Hi
I'm a SteadiCam user from South Florida and I am pursuing Real Estate video.
I'm looking for other StediCam users for networking purposes for the
possibility of getting videos of listings from other areas. Also I'd like to
network for the purposes of information exchange, different cameras used, any
modifications that make SteadiCam life easier, etc., etc. Looking forward to
hearing from you.

Rick, hi.
Steadycam Jr user here, too. Sony TR700 Hi-8. Also have Quadra-based
non-linear editing suite for med-quality posting. But only S-VHS and Hi-8
formats. (No Umatic, Betacam SP, 1 inch C, or any of the really mouthwatering
stuff). Only data exchange is Syquest 105 or 270. So, you see, I'm strictly
amateur.

Hi Paul,
I wouldn't call you strictly amateure. Hi-8 is one of the best acquisition
sources and non-linear editing capabilities is mor than I currently have.
Besides it's the results of your work which determines you professionalism, not
the bigger your tools (or in some cases, the bigger your toys). When you say
med-quality, is that VHS or better? Plus with non-linear editing I don't see a
strong need for the higher formats for industrial quality. Any way whereabouts
are you located, and do you have any StediCam footage you could send me? How
long have you been using

I live in St. Louis. Been using a Steadicam Jr for about 8 months. I use it
for poor man's tracking, dolly, and boom shots. I have a Sony TR700 mounted on
it, which is much more camera than I have talent to use. The Steadicam and
Optical Image Stabilization combo helps my footage look more fluid.

The quality of my non-linear station far surpasses either of my decks or
cameras (at least 20% more resolution). It is also better than my Videonics
MX1 digital mix. What drags the quality down to 'medium' is that I digitize
from Hi-8 and master to S-VHS through the MX1. None of these components
approach the quality of my digital gear, and you're only as good as your
weakest part.
I say 'medium-quality' because there is a vast difference between my footage
and what comes off of say Betacam SP posted on serious digital rigs. I'm
sometimes a guest at a local sports production house <friends in the ad biz>.
Sitting in an editing suite at one of these studios is quite a humbling
experience.

I do not make video for money. For me, it is art and craft <just like pottery
or music>. And I'm definately amateur. But I don't mean this negatively. The
Olympic Games are played strictly by amateurs.

Rick, I just used the Steadicam to shoot some clips at the St. Louis Auto Show.
I'll be posting them down to a 90 second 'concept car' short this weekend. I'd
be delighted to exchange tape with you as I'm always anxious to learn from the
work of others. I'll be shooting a Mardi Gras parade the 25th. I'd love some
pointers on using the Steadicam in crowded outdoor situations where there may
be wind (I have trouble controlling the camera in these conditions).
I was under the impression that if you tried to use BetaCam on an SC Jr your
camera would tip over and your hand would fall off.

Yeah, but you'd develop a heck of a right arm <laugh>.
I don't even think a BetaCam will mount on SC Jr. And even if it would, you'd
have to hang a bucket of rocks off the lower spar to counterbalance. <g>

Hi Barbara,
I do different kinds of video and graphics work. Industrial, live
preformances, special events. As I pointed out I am currently pursuing the real
estate area as well as live performances. I am positioning myself to take
advantage of the multimedia opportunities that are comming about and is only
going to get bigger. The real estate industry is just one of many industries
that can be one of the first to benefit from marketing of this type. I have
also been working on my 3-d animation skills, as I have been doing 2-d
animations for a while. I am located in Cooper City (South of Plantation, west
of Hollywood, north of Pembroke Pines.) Where are your offices located?

I forgot to ask you what you shoot with your SteadiCam. How long you've been
using it. What camera or cameras you use it with, etc.
