Joel: >>I'd like to hear from you if you have had any experience with The Movie Line from Fast Electronics. Does it capture and output Hi8/SVHS quality? What other PC based editor are you using and what do you recommend. The Movie Machine is composite in and composite out only. So Hi8/SVHS quality is not possible. Why FAST didn't put "S-" jacks on Movie Machine? Maybe they were trying to protect their higher end Video Machine (which may begin the answer to your second question). But perhaps we should be clear what question you are asking. The Movie Machine is in a catagory of products that is under $1000, of which there are many. These are what I would call "multimedia" quality cards. (Check out New Media, Nov 94 for a run down of those products). To get to Y/C quality, I think you'll need to move to another level. FAST's Video Machine may work, Matrox has a number of fine products, TouchVision has D/Vision, and there's EMC's PrimeTime and the new Night Suite (up in the $40,000 range). But again, what is your need in terms of price/performance? Jeff Sauer Desktop Video Group
