Hi, My name is Mark Tosiello, and I am in the process of setting up a tag system using a 512K Amiga and 2 drives. My modem is the Amiga Modem 1680. I have had no trouble with the board, except when a caller exceeded his time limit, and was disconnected. I was in the chat mode with him at the time, and I noted that after his disconnection, when I went to pick up the phone for use (to call him by voice, we were testing the system) I found that MY modem was still sending out a sound that resembles the sound it makes when it detects a carrier (that harsh, rushing 1200baud sound). I had to unplug the modem and plug it in again to reset it. Is this a common problem???? I hve not been able to get through on the AmigaBoard to ask what is going on–I think I am doing everything correctly. Any suggestions????? Thanks very much!!!!! The board works well otherwise. Mark, It sounds like you are not letting the Computer control DTR. There is a dip switch on the back of the modem that allows controll from the Computer. Also the Modem MUST NOT AUTO ANSWER. The BBS must have FULL control over the modem. Hope this helps!
