The more experience you have, the more you can rely on your own skill set. The less experience, the more you should rely on a vendor — perhaps a turnkey installation. A non-linear DTV rig can be expensive. If your budget and asprin bottle allow for lots of mistakes (God knows I've made more than my share), then you will certainly learn a lot by going at it solo. And will gain an understanding of your equipment, its limitations, and strengths. Briefly explain what you'd like to do, and ask for a Media 100 dealer near you. Many of their dealers specialize in the 'Industrial in-house' market.
