Hi, I was wondering about MPEG playback cards and their drivers. I have a need to be able to pull up an MPEG file onto a blue background. The frame of the video I'm seeking to is also blue. I'm doing this with a MCI string commands using OPEN LOAD SEEK WINDOW STATE SHOW Normally, with .AVI files, the file loads, opens, seeks to a frame and then is put in a window on the screen, paused. When I try this with the RealMagic MPEG card, I always get a black flash on opening the file. I still show a paused frame in the .MPG file, except that I always get a black flash, then the frame in question. I heard this was the driver's fault, not MPEG as a platform. Is there anyone who has any info on this? Maybe a MPEG card with a good driver? Thanks, John

Hi Jon, I think the problem is in the MCI driver of the RellMagic. Video for Windows uses the AVIVideo MCI-command set, the ReelMagic uses neither the AVIVideo nor the MPEG MCI-command set. It uses OVERLAY MCI-command set. There is a little bit difference between these command sets. I have had a similar problem, now it works, I think you should read the specs and you will see what's necessary. Regards, Martin
