I am sure that you are much more knowledgeable in this area, but from
local experience (2 different drives – 2 controller failures) I'd bet on
the controller. It's my belief/superstition that, after the initilization
sequence, there should be no flashes — ever — when it is disconnected
from the SCSI bus. I'm sure that you have already checked to see what SCSI
Unit No. the drive is jumpered for. I'd bet that the Wichita folks
probably set it up to be Unit 0.
Anyway good luck. I'm trying to stay set up to quickly switch back to a
floppy-only boot just in case my drive starts showing similar symptons.
The other AM-33 owner (who got his back from KS in December) is now having
the periodic blinking and (sure enough!) sooner or later the DOS "… has a
read/write error" notifications that seem to go along with it all.
