#Version 1.2
5 messages in this thread
Is Kickstart Version 1.2 out yet? It looks to me like some of you have it. If
so, how do I get mine? I bought my Amiga from my local ComputerLand dealer
last March and haven't heard a single thing about when I can get the new
operating system.
Tim,
Only beta and pre-release versions are out, they were given to
registered developers and some dealers have obtained copies from "friends" and
are making copies of it for their "friends". In fact, the area Rep for my
area, gave copies to a local dealer, told him to start giving copies to anyone
who asked (for a small fee–$10) and they printed documentation would be
available within a week or 2. That was a month ago.
In fact, what has occured is at the last minute. Amiga pulled 1.2 for
more corrections. It has NOT been officially released and so is not available
generally yet. Also, the versions that are out, are not the final version…so
can't be depended on to run exactly like the final version when out.
The information we have reports that when it is released (which should
be soon), letters will be sent to all owners of Amigas (get those warranty
cards in!) advising them that they can pick up the new release and
documentation for a small fee (again, in the range of $10-$15…basically the
cost of disks and duplication of documentation) at the dealer where the Amiga
was purchased. For those cases where the dealer is no longer in business, or
the owner has moved, etc. Copies will be available at any Amiga dealer.
The distribution information is not "official", but is believed to be
correct.
When we know for sure that 1.2 is official and available, we will post
a bulletin here with that information.

1.2 is not "officially" released yet. This does not mean you
can't get it. Talk to a LOT of Amiga folks. You'll find a solution.
