#Paint Bug?

I am providing only the paint fill color. The object border color is optional. (As I understand the manual). When I provide the proper object border color, or that border color happens to match the fill color, then PAINT works properly. It is only when the object border color is unknown that I get into trouble.

Quoting fromt the Amiga Basic manual: The borderColor-id identifies the color of the edge of the of the region to be painted. If you omit this parameter, Amiga Basic uses the color specified by paintColor-id. In case it doesn't say this in your manual, I should tell you that this comes from the Amiga Basic manual I received with my German designed A2000.

Larry; What you say is of course true. Perhaps I should refer to this as a "feature" of AmigaBASIC, rather than a bug. Still, it makes life difficult, as one does not always know what is the border color of an object to be filled (as in a paint program, for instance). I was further confused by a reference in Halfhill and Brannon's "Advanced Amiga BASIC" book, p47 "We've found some seemingly enclosed figures still permit paint to escape. This apparent bug is not Amiga BASIC's fault; it seems to be at the operating system level and afflicts most programs that use flood fills." There is a work-around solution to the problem of using PAINT to fill objects with unknown border colors. It involves using the ROM Kernal FLOOD tool. See message number 85766 for more details.

Though I do not consider it a bug, I do consider that Amigabasic is missing another important function, and that is the "FILL" command. ABasic had both, one of which fills an area to the edge of the area defined by the colour at the point specified in the fill, while the other filled to a predefined colour "border".
