Bonjour! Steve. I am looking for a gizmo that would do the opposite ie: convert IFF to GIF on an Amiga so that I can then use it on my IBM and reconvert the GIF to PIC or PCX. Thanks for your Help. -Serge.

There is a program call AMGIF that will convert IFF format to GIF. It is packaged together with a program called HAMGIF that is used to view GIF files on the Amiga. The name of the file is GIFFILES.ZOO that I have in storage. I would suspect that it is here in the libraries. Lee 😉

There are only two IFF to GIF converters in existance, to my knowledge. The original one is IFF2GIF, and it handles the up to 16 color Hires and up to 32 color Lowres modes. The other is AMGIF which handles those modes and also handles HAM modes by reducing to 256 colors, the GIF maximum. I'm adding Extra Halfbrite support to it now, which ought to be public this week or next. –>Steve Bennett (Author of AMGIF)

Serge, You can go to any Library prompt, open your capture buffer, and type SCA SHO *.* to get a very quick one-line list of the software in that library, and in alphabetical order at that. You will find graphic utilities, such as Superview, AmGIF, HamGif, etc., in Library 9. To get a list of the library names, stop at the Forum prompt, open your capture buffer or turn on your printer, and type LN ……Betty
