I am considering the purchase of a hard disk for my A2000. I am specifically looking at a MiniScribe 40 ms type hard drive (probably 40 MB). I also own a Bridge Board. This raises the question as to whether I should buy this drive with an IBM disk drive controller (neglible additional cost) or an Amiga A2090 ST506/SCSI controller ($300). I will be using the drive, in either case, mainly for my Amiga side. Can anyone give me any rough data or benchmarks regarding how fast the IBM vs Amiga ST506 vs Amiga SCSI drives access times would be?

Steven, The access to a Hard drive on the PC side is relatively slow. The data has to be transfered thru the JANUS interface. Using an Amiga side HD with the BridgeBoard I figure it's only about 1.5 to 2x the speed of a floppy on the BridgeBoard. I would presume that using a PC side HD as an Amiga drive would be about the same speed since my HD when used by the Amiga side is significantly faster…like 10 or better times as fast. With that in mind…I'd get the 2090 and put it on the Amiga side since you state that you use the Amiga side for the most part. Don
