#Hardrive problems fixed.

Well, my disk drive seems to be working fine now. I have the C-Ltd
interface, an Adaptek 4070 controller and a Seagate 277R. I will probably
never know exactly what the problem was. After improving the grounding and
replacing the pals I still had problems. I ran a monitor program and saw
that there were over 10,000 interrupts/sec when the computer would seem to
hang. I took the C-Ltd interface and cleaned up some possible solder
bridges, removed what may have been fine wires from the connector (or dust),
and reseated the chips. All is well now. The C-Ltd controller and your
software have my highest praises.
There are a lot of undocumented commands in the C directory. Know where I
can find out about them, other than calling C-Ltd and bugging them?

Nope – bug em – and tell em that undocumented software is about as useful as,
well, never mind – tell em to document it. <grin> –Ben–
Solder bridges, huh? Hmmmm…. if you're any kind of certain, or feel that
the board could have been done better, complain. Then that are silent, reap
no benefits, eh? –Ben–
Actually, I feel that the overall quality of the board was quite high. There
was one spot where the solder mask had a break and apparently the bridge was
made during the installation of the connector, after which it made it
difficult to see the bridge. If I were to complain to them, It would be
about the poor flux removal. Still, I am quite happy with the device. I
will call about the docs. Thanks, John.
