Well…here's the reply: Nav has to see the list of section and library
names on the very first page of your review session for the forum in
question. When there are announcements, you get a short page, the page of
announcements, and then the names of the sections and libraries, so it
won't update properly (and the update button should remain checked).
Similarly, if you have messages waiting for you when you log on you'll get
a short page, ending with "You have x messages waiting" (or something like
that) and the names won't be listed until further on in the review. If you
log on immediately afterwards, you probably won't have any messages waiting
so it will update properly (after you review the second, probably empty,
session). Since the names are actually saved in the application, not the
session, I would suggest that you just make a backup of the first session
you run so that you can read and respond normally from that backup after
you've run the (brief) second session.
