#New Amiga's?

Don, Thanks for the info on the new machines. Do you think this is just
vapor ware or do you think we will see these machines? Rick
Rick, anything not on your dealers shelf is vaporware. However, I think that
CBM has learned its' lesson about announcing (whether on purpose or from
leaks within the company) products that are not really in the works. The
target dates for release of the 2500's and 3000 are unknown. Meanwhile, the
A2000 looks like a good upgradeable machine.
Marlene, Thanks for the dope on A2500/A3000 vaporware. Do you think the
A2000 will ever have UNIX ported to it? Do you really think that an A2000
with its 16 bit data bus can be truly upgraded to run a 68020 or 30 using a
real 32 bit bus? Rick
Yes it can… the 68020 has the ability to do dynamic sizing on memory ops.
Rick, I really do think we'll see UNIX ported to the A2000. Larry has
answered your question on the 32bit bus. Marlene
Marlene,
No you won't see UNIX ported to the A2000—you'll see it ported to
the A2500 which is the A2000 with the 68020 card and a 40 Meg (or larger) HD.
There's a big difference there, UNIX can not run on the 68000 since
it doesn't support an MMU…or so Hazy says.
Don
Don, sorry – I didn't mean without a 68020. Didn't realize I had implied
that.
