Dick: First, as you can see, decrypting the AEC lisp files is not a popular subject with the guys at ADESK. Actually, Jamie's reply was much milder than I expected. I would suspect that you did your editing with the wordprocessor in a document mode. You either have to use a word processor that has a non-document mode, or use edlin to work with lisp files. Warrantied or not, there are those of us who do not consider the encryption of the lisp files a popular practice of ADESK. However, they do have the right to do so and should protect their investment as they see fit. I agree with Jamie, that unless you use the command you are adding as much as you use even the most basic of commands, it would be better to add the command to your menu. If you have difficulty in doing so, there are plenty of us on the Forum who would be glad to help you out. There are good reasons to have access to the AEC lisp files, such as minor customizations or corrections that can be made. If you are not a relatively experienced lisp programmer, I would not recommend that you mess with the works, as it were. You can imagine the headaches that the dealers would have if everyone got inside the multitude of lisp routines supplied with AEC and left out some parenthesees and then asked the dealer to fix the product since it won't work anymore. If you are an experienced lisp programmer, I can tell you that I used wordstar to edit and add to my acad.lsp file and have no problems with it. Craig. .
