Dale, task 2 of AutoCAD's "Configuration" menu is "Allow I/O port
configuration". If you toggle this to "yes", AutoCAD will ask you which port
to use when you configure peripherals. I think this is what you're looking

No, that's doesn't do it. Once you enable I/O port configuration, ACAD says
"i/o port questions will be asked during device configuration" or some such
message. When you then go to configure a device, the question you're asked
is something like "Available ports are Serial A or Serial B. Enter port (A
or B) <A>: " If you try to enter a hex address, you're rewarded with
"Invalid response. Enter A or B <A>:" and this continues until you either
answer A or B or give up. By the way, if support for this isn't built-in to
the 2.17b config. utility, I'd be happy with an address to patch with DEBUG.
