Hi Eric, thanks for the comments, hadn't been aware of the bbs, have written
to Eric Q. Quankenbush over a month ago and am still waiting for a reply!! I
have version 2.03, it's the same # for all the programs, DoubleBack included.
I have run all of the programs with the results as I had already outlined, and
one more `wrinkle' I may have forgotten in my last message. None of the
programs reliably seem to recognize drive df0: as being in the system, ie:
shows JH0: and DF1: and even if I hand type in DF0: it responds that the drive
is not in the system, which it most definetly is!! My experiences I see are
not the exception but all too common, and at the $$ I paid for it all too
much!! There are PD/Shareware programs that will do `almost' everything that
the Disk Mechanic programs do and without the failures/problems. What we
Amigans need is a program like PCTOOLS and/or NORTON that the IByech (my M key
sticks when preceded by IB !) world has enjoyed for a number of years.

The version on the BBS is Workbench 2.3, but most of the programs say
version 2.4 or later. My versions don't (and never have) had any trouble
seeing my DF0:, but then I don't have a JH0: . I have DH0: FH1: FH2: DF0: and
DF2: – Maybe it's your "assign"'s (?) Good luck!

Whoops! I mean Disk Mechanic 2.3, not Workbench 2.3 – Emb
I know the problem regarding df0: and Jh0: I think it is related to both drives
being listed as "unit 0" on the mount list. Since the program works fine with
Dh0: drives the problem may belong as much to the Commodore Janus routines as
it does to Eric!
