Hi James,
Could you please tell us what the suggested retail price is for the new
version of ProWrite 3.0? The program sounds great and it sounds like just
the kind of "everything" word processor that I need!

be $175.

I'm looking forward to 3.0. Now about those macros… Do I need to
*learn* AREXX, or will just having it available be enough for ProWrite to
do the work for me?

No need to learn ARexx to use ProWrite's macros, although knowledge of
ARexx could help. For the most part the commands supported by ProWrite's
macro language are very straightforward (they are just the menu names, and
other obvious things). ARexx is used simply as the engine to read the
macro file and send the commands to ProWrite at the appropriate time.
ARexx is also useful if you want ProWrite and other programs to communicate
with each other (this is the reason we used ARexx instead of building a
macro engine inside of ProWrite).

Sounds good. I've had ARexx for some time, but have never found a crying
need to learn it. Maybe 3.0 will give me the incentive.

Well, I'm finding more and more uses for it as I become more familiar with
it. For example, we have already created macros for printing ProWrite files
(either NLQ/Draft or PostScript) to a disk file directly from ProWrite.
And another that gives very extensive math capabilities to ProWrite (type
an equation, hit the macro F-key, voila–the result).
Gee, since we are planning on including these sample macros, I guess you
could say ProWrite 3.0 also has built-in math capabilities!

At some point, too, I hope MY copy will have a built-in database called
MICROFICHE FILER PLUS. :')
A thought occurs: as you are including sample macros, how about the one
that uses CMD to allow ProScript to print to a file from within
ProWrite…? Just a thought.

Will ProWrite 3.0 work on the Moniterm? (Open a window on the workbench
screen or use the 1008 x 800 resolution itself)?

ProWrite 3.0 has options to open on the Workbench screen, or in its own
screen of 2, 4, or 8 colors, in medium or high resolution (or even low
resolution, but that's in there primarily for the visually impaired). No
longer will there be separate "HR" and "MR" versions–a single version will
handle all of this.
