I hear not herd. (Musician not cowboy). Don't know how that one got
by except maybe the very late hour it was written. (spell checkers only go
so far!). 🙂
The A.M.A.S. sampler module deals with NORMAL Amiga audio as it
digitizes audio (A/D) and plays the sounds back via Paula (D/A). I know
that the Audio in and out on the serial buss have NOTHING to do with MIDI
as MIDI has NOTHING to do with audio. I don't know what signals those pins
expect to see so I wondered if it had any thing to do with the sampling
process. Most other digitizers, Audio and Video on the market all seem to
use the Parallel port only so the combined inability of the A.M.A.S. to
sample without the serial port connected and your info about the Audio
Out/In pins raised the question.
I will probably solve this through experimentation but I'm still
curious about what those pins do.
Sorry to bother you with this as I had hoped Rick was available. I
hope nothing has happened to him.
If you know of anyone else that deals with this end of hardware and/or
a better place in the forum to get help, please let me know as I don't want
to be a pain in the butt.
As always you have saved me a lot of time and research with your quick
replies and info.

Essentially…those pins are audio level pins…the same as the
audio out jacks…but not stereo. The out jack is the same as the audio
going to your speaker. In fact…it's a tap on the left audio out line.
The audio in line, simply runs to the audio amplifier (right audio
amplifier to be exact) where it's run thru the amplification circuits and
applied to the right audio out jack.
