I finally got my A/B Switch setup working with the Mitsubishi. But one
cable from Redmond never worked properly: the supposedly straight
pass-through 9-pin cable from the FlickerFixer to the switch. Instead I
substituted the TTL cable Mitsubishi supplied with the monitor. It appears
to work fine. I DO notice a little bluish smearing (hardly noticeable),
but that's it.

I'm a little confused about how you got this to work, but as long as it IS
working, great! Is the VGA cable to the switch straight through too, or is
it custom? From what I remember about the cable wiring between a FF and
the AUM-1381A, the pins are nearly all on one side of the 25 pin connector.
A straight through cable wired 1-1 wouldn't get it, I don't believe.
I don't remember a bluish smear on any of our Mitsus, but now that you've
mentioned it I'll check more carefully tomorrow.

The VGA cable is custom (15 pins to 9). The straight-through cable (9 to
9) goes from the FF to the A/B switch. That's the cable that came with the
Mitsubishi. The magic happens in the 9 pin to 25 pin A/B switch to
Mitsubishi cable.
The smear is very faint. I called Mitsuibishi, and they said it was a
slightly misaligned gun. It's not bothersome enough to send back. At
times I don't even notice it. They also said my unorthodox use of their
cable sounded fine, and confirmed it was a straight-through.
So I'm in business. Oh, I've also ordered a 23 pin to 25 pin to run from
the Amiga's regular video port to the monitor so I can stick my genlock in
there. I'll plug and unplug when I need to use it. I decided against an
A/B/C, but it might be fun some day to try it.

Ok, I get it now. The normalization to VGA 9-pin occurs in the two cables
from the FF and VGA card to the A/B switch. Fitting this to the Mitsu's
cable pinout is done in the custom monitor cable. Interesting.
After wandering around the offices here, I found one Mitsu with a very
slight blue smear. It's one of the newer ones, and it doesn't look as
sharp as the one on my computer. Still, these are picayune differences
relative to the presence/absence of a FlickerFixer.
