Virus

I am slightly worried that I may have a virus. The symptom is that when I
click on a project it occaisionally will disappear. After much searching,
I will usually find it in another drawer. The odd thing is, that the
drawer it went to, has never been visible on the screen. Otherwise, I
would suspect that I inadvertantly moved it ther. It doesn't happen very
often, but it is annoying. Has anyone experienced this?
I have tried virusx, but it has not found anything.

From your description I doubt that you have a virus.
It may be that the drawer icon is hidden behind the project icon in
question. You might consider doing a Clean Up. Khalid's Float utility comes
in handy if you would like to remove any fixed positions and let Workbench
position the icons for you.
In combination with this, you might also have a flakey mouse button. Have
you had any trouble with the mouse?

I doubt it also. I don't think though that the drawer icons are hidden
behind the project icons. Otherwise, they drawer would appear as soon as
the project moves into it. Float doesn't work well for some of the icons
that are large since they CAN end up overlaping other icons. In one case
the project went into a drawer that wasn't in an open window.
Hopefully, it won't happen again, but if it does I'll play closer attention
to the current state of the windows and everything.

John: There's some kind of a bug in the Workbench software which sometimes
leaves behind "hot spots" after you move a drawer. For some reason, those
"hot spots" behave as if the drawer were still there, and when you place an
icon on or near them, they can either spontaneously jump into that drawer,
or will do so with a button click. I think that selecting all the icons in
a window and then doing a "snapshot" will cure the problem.

I occasionally had the same problem. It went away when I got a new
mouse; I'm pretty sure it was a flaky left button, in conjunction with the
bug that Ray mentioned. —Mike
Thanks, I think you are both right. Sometimes the left button does behave
strangely, it'll open an application on the first click.
