Hello, Are there any suggestions on how to translate a Harvard Graphics Chart file so that it can be incorporated into a PC Aldus Pagemaker document without a lot of pain. I have been unsuccessful so far employing the HG export formats. I would appreciate any advice… Thanks….

Ron, I'll be curious to see what others have to say on this. I've never been completely happy with any of the available HG export formats either. I finally settled on CGM as being the best of the lot for my needs, but it has certain inconsistencies among different graph types, and I find text handling to be unpredictable. It's been a long time since HG has been revised. It's time for the old gal to get a facelift in order to keep up with competition. By the way, there is a Software Publishing Corp forum (SPCFORUM, I believe). You'll probably be able to pick lots of input there. –Bill

Bill, Thanks for the input. I also hope there will be some discussion on the subject. I will pass on any info I get from HG. Ron.

Ron, Number of formats to select out of Harvard Graphics… 1. CGM 2. EPS 3. HPGL Since you already tried number 3 alternative, that's out. If you don't have a Postscript printer, option 2 is out. Leaving CGM. Most of our DTP User Group users exploit alternative 1, Computer Graphics Metafile. You may have some problems, though, due to Pagemaker unable to handle large CGM files that Harvard creates. Joel Diamond, WUGNET Journal, Nat'l Windows Users Group Network
